Road Trippin!…

The family is loaded in the van this 4th of July and we have hit the road for a rather strange trip that is part work, part play, part in the US and part abroad. There’s also an exciting update from my last post…..

I’m writing this on an iPod touch that was a joint family 40th birthday present…..it’s the iPhone without the phone or camera…… or phone contract! Way cool. So here’s the itinerary:

July 5 Buffalo stopping on the way in Indianapolis (where I am posting from) – July 8 Syracuse (5 concerts) – July 14 Easton CT (to visit our only family in the US) – July 18 fly to London (to see more family, old friends and hopefully some great performances – back on July 26 – July 27 possibly a quick trip to Boston to see George Michael! – July 28 drive home with plenty of stops!

I’ll be posting from various locales. We just drove through St Louis and as always the arch is an awesome sight (I’m in the passenger seat in case anyone is wondering!)

I am excited to report on a phone call I received the day the letter regarding my thoughts about the possible cancellation of Springfield’s Firefall celebration was published. $60k needs to be raised to save it and the caller pledged $15k in the hopes that others will now step forward, incredibly generous.  That donation is what I would call a giant leap not just a step, not to mention a lot of pennies for a thought! After such news this truly is a happy 4th, talk to you “down the road”.

Sanders01_2 Kudos to Stefan Sanders for winning the MD job with the Kingsville Symphony, Texas. He is the Bass Trombonist in Buffalo and so we worked together many times.  Whilst on extended leave he’s pursuing conducting (brave to say the least!). He’s a terrific musician, I’m thrilled for him!
