On this final day of 2008, I’ll just point out a few articles I turned up recently that might be of interest. First is a piece in the Toronto Star in which entertainment columnist Greg Quill (an ideal name for a journalist) cheers on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.’s controversial changes to its Radio 2 format.

I have an aunt who sends me clippings — articles about music from all kinds of sources. This week she sent me an article by David Schiff with the title printed above. It was from the New York Times, dated May 31, 1998.

Erie station drops classical
Yet another station is dropping classical music from its schedule — this one in Erie, Pa. WMCE-FM, a noncommercial station operated by Mercyhurst College, will drop classical in February in favor of an all-jazz format, reports GoErie.com.
