If your station airs Performance Today from American Public Media, you can hear the piece John Williams wrote for the Inauguration. Don’t you think it’s fantastic that President Obama (I love the sound of that) chose classical music for the featured piece at the Inauguration itself?
My letter to President Obama
Dear President Obama,
Welcome to your new job. I know that you have many pressing concerns to deal with and that those I am addressing may not be at the top of the list today. But I ask that you make time in coming years to improve the health of both our arts community and our media environment.
Dear President Obama
Dear President Obama,
It seems as though everyone in the whole world is expecting you to solve their problems. As long as you’re at it, could you please give your seal of approval to the arts and the value they have for our kids and our communities? How about a Secretary of Arts and Culture?
I Have a Dream, Too
On this historic day, leading up to an even more historic day, I was just thinking about where we’ve been and where we’re going in our narrow slice of American life called Classical Music Radio. Those of us who are already committed to the beauty and life-affirming power of classical music know what our art form can do for people’s lives if they get the chance to learn about it and appreciate it.
