LA Philharmonic on Classic FM – Wow

Beginning June 1st, the Los Angeles Philharmonic will  air 14 concert broadcasts from Disney Hall and Caracas, Venezuela on Britain’s largest classical radio station, Classic FM.  As Joe Biden would say, this is a BFD.   You can read more about it in this post from the LA Times.

For the past decade, Classic FM has partnered with a range of U.K. ensembles, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia and the Sixteen. The agreement with the L.A. Phil is the first overseas partnership of this nature in the radio station’s 20-year history.

For the inaugural broadcast, LA Phil Music Director Gustavo Dudamel conducts the orchestra in a Mendelssohn program.   Brian Lauritzen of KUSC produces the broadcasts.
