Even when speaking like a pirate, radio announcers need to ARRR-ticulate…and aye, even though pirates may prefer ARRR and B music, they also find their way into the classics=) I had help with selections from my mates on the AMPPR email list!
* Berlioz, The Corsair
* Herold, Zampa Overture (he gets dragged down to hell at the end of that opera!)
* von Suppe, Jolly Robbers Overture
* Sullivan, Pirates of Penzance Overture
* Korngold, Sea Hawk: Suite
* Zimmer, Pirates of the Caribbean: Overture
* Vaughan Williams, A Sea Symphony: Mvt 1
* Hanson, Sea Symphony
* Mendelssohn, Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage (finally escaping the pirates!)
* Castelnuovo Tedesco, Sea Murmurs
In the end, to comfort the landlubbers, I turned away from the sea and left them in the “new world”;) and then came The World, from P-ARRR-I.

(if I’d thought about this beforehand, I would have blogged it…maybe next year=)
