It is funny – as a Music Director you’re responsible for putting together a season that is coherent and musically fulfilling. But then it’s thrown into the hopper of PR/Marketing and God only knows what is going to come out. You’re thinking one thing and then you catch a glimpse of what is going out to the public and – “that’s not what I had in mind!” So, what’s in a name?

On the Calgary Trail
A conductor’s life is a strange one. A couple days home and the next thing I know I’m off to the airport. Greetings from Calgary.
Charlotte #5 Alive……..
It’s past midnight and I’m watching Monk on USA. I’m exhausted. I can barely stand. It’s been a long day and I’m not sure I’ll be able to make sense. But here it goes…….
Charlotte Part IV
The day breaks and the prognostic is not good. My muscles are stiffer than a porn star on extra-strength Viagra. And I have to play Mozart today. Oy.
Charlotte Part The Third
Second full day in Charlotte and I wake up feeling like an old man. Between conducting, practicing, and the long bike ride yesterday this 43-year-old body is complaining. Nothing to do but do it all over again.
Charlotte Part Deux….
It has been an interesting day here in Charlotte so this will probably be a long post. Sit down and make yourself comfortable.
Charlotte Part I……
You know you’re back in the south when you order a beer and the very pretty bartender says “Here you go, sweetheart.”
Whistlin’ Dixie…….The Charlotte Week
Through the next week I shall be in the beautiful city of Charlotte, N.C. It will be my pleasure to return to the podium of the Charlotte Symphony for concerts this weekend. These are not normal concerts – this particular CSO is looking for a Music Director.
