Jobs at WGTE and All Classical FM

I was looking over the job listings in Current the other day and a few caught my eye as Scanning the Dial-worthy. Here’s one from All Classical FM in Portland, Ore.:

The Vice President of Development & Marketing directs all fundraising and communication strategies of All Classical FM using effective, efficient and creative communication while building strong community relationships. This position reports directly to the President/CEO and supervises an excellent staff of five. This is a fabulous full-time, exempt position, located in beautiful and progressive Portland, Oregon, offering a highly competitive compensation package for the ideal candidate.

WGTE Public Media, Toledo, Ohio, a community licensed public TV and radio broadcaster, seeks a full time Classical Music Director/Radio Host. The director is responsible for programming classical music for WGTE FM, hosting a daily classical music program, and producing a monthly, live music performance/artist interview program, among other duties.

Mike Janssen Served as Scanning The Dial's original co-authors from Mar, 2008 to Jan, 2010 and is a freelance writer, editor and media educator based in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. He has written extensively about radio, mostly for Current, the trade newspaper about public broadcasting, where his articles have appeared since 1999. He has also worked in public radio as a reporter at WFDD-FM in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he began his career in journalism and filed pieces for NPR. Mike's work in radio expanded to include outreach and advocacy in 2007, when he worked with the Future of Music Coalition to recruit applicants for noncommercial radio stations. He has since embarked on writing a series of articles about radio hopefuls for FMC's blog.

Mike also writes regularly for Retail Traffic magazine and teaches workshops about writing, podcasting and radio journalism.   1. I checked out Iowa Public Radio to see just what they are doing. It is nice to see that most of the daytime programming is local. WFMT is used for some programming, especially over night.
