The Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) is an outstanding group that supports and advocates for live arts performances.  They want your opinion about which classical artists to present at their annual conference in 2013. New Classical Station in Southern Ontario

The charming town of Collingwood, on Lake Huron Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada (three hours north of Buffalo) is gaining a classical station.  The announcement comes from Bayshore Broadcasting. Most of the station’s programming will originate in Toronto with 24-hours a week [sic] of content directed specifically to listeners in Collingwood and surrounding area. Lorin Levee, the wonderful principal clarinetist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, has died at age 61 of a blood disorder.  A very sad day.  Scanning the Dial shares in sending condolences to his family and to his orchestra colleagues. Colorado Public Radio has officially purchased classical KVOD, although CPR has been operating the station under an LMA since 2008.  The purchase price was $8.364 million. Classical Music as Punishment

We’ve seen this story again and again.  City officials or store owners want to keep teens from hanging out so they play classical music to chase them off.   If the kids had music education in school they’d probably like the music and it wouldn’t deter them.  This latest idiotic example is in the western Washington town of Sequim (pronounced SQUIM), where city officials want to clear young people out of the city transit center.
