On this final day of 2008, I’ll just point out a few articles I turned up recently that might be of interest. First is a piece in the Toronto Star in which entertainment columnist Greg Quill (an ideal name for a journalist) cheers on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.’s controversial changes to its Radio 2 format.

Erie station drops classical
Yet another station is dropping classical music from its schedule — this one in Erie, Pa. WMCE-FM, a noncommercial station operated by Mercyhurst College, will drop classical in February in favor of an all-jazz format, reports GoErie.com.

Changes at North Carolina’s WDAV
DavidsonNews.net reports that WDAV-FM, the classical public radio station in Davidson, N.C., is laying off a host and hiring two staffers devoted to corporate support. The story divulges a few details that, in particular, piqued my interest.
